“When I get calm, things seem to be in slow motion, how can I get things done?” I’m asked this question a lot. Some of my friends and clients take prescription tranquilizers , some drink alcohol, some do both. This forces their body and mind onto being more calm. Being intelligent people we know that these drugs will give unnatural and short term effects. When the effects wear off they some times feel worse and I’m not implying you stop your medications, the doctor but you on them for a reason, what I’m saying is when you so feel pharmaceutically calm, add natural methods too. Meditation, pacing your time better, deep breathing and even enjoying the calm feelings. Drugs have by products or chemical additives that can really mess up your already vulnerable body. So be prepared for some ‘weird’ sensations. Of course it is a NO BRAINER, never drink alcohol at work! A nursing license losing for sure. When things seem to go in slow motion, adapt yourself to this, pace your tasks or project time to get priority things done thoroughly and by all means reward yourself when you finish something. You can scratch things off your list, to saying to your self “good job” and SMILE!! Remember there will come a time when you don’t need the drugs to get calm!!
You can have good mental health and get things done.
